The Otsego County Sheriff’s office says several local businesses have reported large purchases that have been paid for with what appears to be a valid credit card but turns out to have been stolen.

The business receives an order over the telephone and paid for by credit card. Once the transaction is complete, an individual stops at the business to pick up the product. Then the fraud victim or the credit card company contacts the business advising that the purchase was unauthorized and fraudulent. The investigation is continuing.
