Elf on the Shelf?  Cookies and milk out for Santa Claus?  Carrots out for the reindeer?  Opening just one present on Christmas Eve?  Stockings up (of course)?

Each family has a time tested family Christmas tradition.  In my family, in the 1950s and 1960s we were allowed to open one (small) gift on Christmas Eve.  I guess just to get us pumped for the next morning.  With my own children it was always milk, cookies and carrots left out for the "overnight visitors."

What sentimental tradition did you have, and do you still carry it on?
