Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced Sunday that approximately 45,000 students have been determined eligible for the Excelsior Scholarship, the state program providing free tuition for full-time SUNY and CUNY in-state students whose family income is $100,000 or less. Cuomo’s office says over half of those who met eligibility requirements also learned they qualified for other financial aid including Tuition Assistance Program and Pell grants because they applied for the Excelsior Scholarship and may have otherwise been unaware of their ability to qualify for cost-free tuition.
