This morning Kelli Whitman, our intern here at Townsquare Media in Oneonta brought in DELICIOUS Halloween treats - chocolate oreo bat truffles!  After sampling, I give these yummy critters two thumbs up!

You'll want to make these and here's how:

  • 1 package of regular oreo cookies
  • 1 package of cream cheese
  • 1 bag chocolate chips (dark, milk chocolate, or another flavor you enjoy)

Just crush up the cookies in a bowl but to make bats, you'll want to separate out a few oreo cookie tops to cut in half as bat wings.

soften a package of cream cheese and mix it in with the crushed oreo cookies in the bowl, then form into one inch size balls.

melt on low heat, the package of chocolate chips in a saucepan on the stove.  Stir often.

When chocolate is melted, dip (using a spoon) each ball into the chocolate and evenly coat as best you can.  If you are decorating the truffles with Halloween colored sprinkles, put the sprinkles on while the chocolate is warm so they stick.  You can add the bat wings now as well.

Put the finished truffles on a cookie sheet with wax paper, then put in the fridge to chill for about 10 minutes before serving.  Enjoy!
