The Chiarino Insurance Agency, Inc. was founded in 1972 in Norwich by Adolph L. Chiarino. “Adie,” as his friends knew him, started in the insurance business in 1968. When the Agency opened in 1972, it was originally run out of his living room with the help of his wife Joanna. As the business grew, he relocated to the corner of East Main and Midland Drive in a location which is now owned by CWS. In 1987 Adie built the current location on North Broad Street.

Adie is probably known best for his involvement with the Norwich Fire Department and his years of public service. He began his career in public service as Norwich Justice of the Peace. He later became Norwich Town Supervisor in 1975.  During his 25 years as Supervisor, Adie also was a member of the Public Works and Transportation Committee. He later became Committee Chairman for 18 years. Adie served on several other committees as well during his tenure. His involvement as a fire fighter started in the mid-60′s and continued on after he stopped active duty. He was a strong supporter throughout his years for the recognition and hard work the Department gave to the community.

Sadly, Adie passed away in December 2000, but the community will never forget the years of service and dedication he brought to Norwich.

In July of 2003 Chiarino’s was bought by Pat Fuller. Like Adie, her involvement in the insurance business also began in 1968. Pat started with the Chiarino Agency in 1983 and had been the Office Manager for the Agency for over 20 years. In August 2003, Pat’s son Rick was brought on board as a licensed Property/Casualty, Life, and Health and Accident agent.  Tammie Schuster joined the Agency in January 2008.  Patty’s daughter Stacey joined her “other” family at Chiarino’s in July of 2008 and is now the third licensed agent in the Office. Today, they continue the outstanding service that Chiarino’s has provided Chenango County for the last 35 plus years.
