New York’s ski resorts will start opening for business this month. Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington, and Gore Mountain in North Creek are expected to open this Saturday with Belleayre Ski Resort in Highmount scheduled to open the day after Thanksgiving. Gore is expected to open with five trails serviced by the Adirondack Express. Whiteface opens with summit to base skiing and the Bear Lift and the Cloudsplitter Gondola will be operating. Officials say skiing and riding at New York’s 51 mountains generates $1 billion annually.
