The New York State Senate passed a bill that could charge drug dealers with homicide if a death results from products they sold. State Senator Fred Akshar is a co-sponsor of the bill and says the intent of the legislation is to hold mid to high level drug dealers who profit from heroin sales accountable. The legislation is known as Laree’s Law, after Laree Lincoln, an Albany County teen who died of a fatal overdose in 2013. It now goes to the House.
