The Oneonta Rotary Club’s annual Pancake Day will be held on Saturday, November 5, from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Oneonta Elks Club, 84 Chestnut St., Oneonta.  Club members will serve pancakes with real maple syrup, sausage, applesauce, coffee, tea, milk, and orange juice.  The cost is $7.00 for adults and $4.00 for children under 12.  Tickets are available from any Oneonta Rotarian or at the door. Proceeds benefit the Rotary Youth Exchange Program which builds international friendships, world understanding and peace through having high school students spend an academic year attending school in another country.

The Oneonta Rotary Club has sponsored over 600 inbound and outbound students since the program’s inception in 1964. According to Dick Breuninger, Chair of the Youth Exchange Program/Outbound Students, the program has a truly global outreach with past participating students visiting or coming from Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, New Zealand and South America. Ed Forman, past chair of the Youth Exchange Program/Inbound Students notes that being an exchange student is a life changing experience adding that “The growth that students experience during their year abroad is huge and often changes the course of their lives. The year abroad is a once in a lifetime opportunity for all of these students.”

Founded in 1922, the Oneonta Rotary Club, through service above self, works to create lasting, positive change in the Oneonta community and the world. Oneonta Rotary meets every Thursday from 12-1:30 PM at the Oneonta Elks Club. For more information, contact Lynne Sessions at lsessions411@gmail.com
