April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

During the month the Child Advocacy Center of Chenango County and the Catholic Charities Crime Victims Program have sponsored various events to educate the public on the issues of child abuse, crime victims rights, and sexual assault.

Mike Madaugh, supervisor of the Child Advocacy Center says that in conjunction with Sexual Assault Awareness Month Chenango County is participating in National Wear Denim Day on Friday April 25th.

Madaugh says that verdict engaged many people, and women in the Italian parliament protested the decision by wearing jeans to parliament. As a result, the day became a worldwide show of solidarity with the victims of sexual violence.

Support for the victims of sexual violence can be shown by wearing jeans on Friday April 25th.
