The SUNY Oneonta Office of Health Education/know violence committee,  Athletics Department and University Police will co-host a relationship violence awareness event Thursday, April 20, in conjunction with this year’s know violence shirt day.  SUNY Oneonta has teamed up with the OneLove Foundation to hold Yards for Yeardley, an event dedicated to the memory of University of Virginia lacrosse player Yeardley Love, who was beaten to death by her ex-boyfriend in 2010.  The campus community has a goal of collectively running or walking 10 million yards by the end of the day Thursday. The Athletics Department will have field activities and a walking course on Red Dragon Field between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Participants can also download a tracking form and log their travel across campus using a fitness tracker. Numerous drop boxes will be located across campus to collect forms.

Community members are welcome to participate. There will be tables with information about the know violence program and local community resources that support survivors of sexual and relationship violence.  More information is available from Health Educator Rebecca Harrington, at 607-436-3540.
