The American Cancer Society's Harvest Festival will be held Saturday October 11th from 10-4 at The Delaware County Fairgrounds in Walton. Organizers will be celebrating 22 years of raising awareness and proceeds to benefit cancer programs of research, education and detection, patient services and advocacy.

For the fourth year the event is being co-ordinated by the Relay For Life team, "Touched By Nettie's Crew". This year over 100 vendors are expected to show off their wares along with activities "for the young and the young at heart" such as hayrides, face painting, scavenger hunt, pumpkin painting and live music from three local musicians. The admission for the day's events is just $2 with children 12 and under FREE.

Jeff Wood, a singer songwriter who has opened for country legends Charlie Pride, Randy Travis and Ricky VanShelton in the past brings his own style to originals and covers from 10am-12pm. Ron Richards will be performing from 12-2pm. Ron has performed with local bands throughout the area and is the host of Walton's weekly open mic Thursday night at The Castle On The Delaware in Walton. From 2-4pm the entertainment will be provided by musical stylings of Stephanie Esther, a new comer to the local music scene Stephanie's set will leave you wanting more.

Mary Walker, the Harvest Festival Committee Chairperson was quick to give kudos to her small but dedicated group of volunteers on their efforts to once again bring about a community event  full of fun and entertainment as well as early detection information on this dreaded diagnosis.
