Ashley McBryde's older brother Clay has died. The "A Little Dive Bar In Dahlonega" singer has shared few details about the 53-year-old's death other than to suggest those who'd like to send flowers make a donation to a charity called Mission 22 instead.

An obituary for William Clayton McBryde, Jr., shares that the Russellville, Ark., native died on June 20 at his home, leaving behind a wife of seven months, one son, one grandson and many siblings including the country singer. William McBryde, Sr., also survives his son.

Clay McBryde was a 25-year veteran of the Russellville Police Department who's remembered fondly by those who worked with him in the condolences section of his online obituary. He also served four years in the Army and frequently preached and taught Bible study at the Fifth & Greenwich Church of Christ.

Ashley McBryde did not mention her brother's passing on social media until Sunday (June 24), when she encouraged a donation to Mission 22 in lieu of flowers. Mission 22 is focused on preventing suicide amongst war veterans, with a special emphasis on those who've suffered PTSD and traumatic brain injuries.

Earlier this year, McBryde released her major label debut album, Girl Going Nowhere, and received overwhelming critical praise for her rich collection of stories and emotions. Speaking to Taste of Country, she also revealed that her 75-year-old father was terminally ill, but did not go into detail other than to say they're good friends.

Earlier this month McBryde played the Taste of Country Music Festival in Hunter, N.Y. She is currently on tour with Toby Keith.
