Darius Rucker is joining Team Blake for Season 17 of The Voice. The country singer and Hootie & the Blowfish frontman will be advising Shelton's team of competitors during the upcoming season of the TV singing competition.

Entertainment Tonight announced Rucker's new role on Thursday (Sept. 5). Shelton calls Rucker "the perfect choice for, I would say, anything in my life," noting that Rucker "literally has proven that if he decides whatever it is he wants to do in life, he conquers it."

Rucker, who promises a Team Blake victory during The Voice Season 17, says he and his family watch the show "religiously." He's a fan of Shelton's honestly with his contestants.

"First of all, he’s so funny," Rucker says of Shelton, "and the thing that really makes him a great coach is he’s so genuine. Blake is never BS, ever ... Blake is always honest with them and he’s always got something cool to say."

In addition to Rucker, Season 17's other team advisors are Fifth Harmony member Normani for Kelly Clarkson's team, R&B icon Usher for John Legend's team and Black Eyed Peas member Will.I.Am for Gwen Stefani's team. Season 17 will be The Voice's first without Adam Levine, who, along with Shelton, had been a coach since the show began.

The Voice's 17th season will begin on Sept. 23. The show airs on NBC at 8PM ET.
