Broome Women Lead Featured on Southern Tier Close Up
A new group that looks to support women leaders in Broome County is the focus of the weekly, local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up May 19.
Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce President and CEO, Jennifer Conway, who is a founding member of Broome Women Lead, talks about what prompted the formation of the group and what they are hoping to accomplish.
Conway says the women participating in the networking and support organization include heads of non-profit groups, teachers, mothers, political figures and members of the business community.
Conway says Broome Women Lead is not looking to fight for anything or to push a particular agenda, but is working to provide the support and information that has historically been available to their male counterparts.
The kickoff luncheon for the group in April quickly filled up with many interested women placed on a waiting list.
With so much interest from women in various situations, Broome Women Lead is planning to schedule meeting opportunities at different times including and "after hours" event, possible weekend meetings and sessions where women will be able to bring their children.
The group has a provided a closed facebook opportunity at broomewomenlead for participants to stay up to date on meeting times and other news. People going to that facebook location will have to request to participate for security consideration. Interested parties can also email Jennifer Conway at email@example.com.
Southern Tier Close Up can be heard Saturdays at 12:10 p.m. on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
