Cassadee Pope lived her '90s rock dreams on Wednesday night (July 24): According to Third Eye Blind lead singer Stephan Jenkins, the country singer was watching their set at Nashville's Ascend Amphitheater from the side of the stage with members of Kings of Leon. And a sweet deal got sweeter when the band invited Pope to swap verses of "Losing a Whole Year" with Jenkins.

Readers can press play above to watch Pope's performance with Third Eye Blind. "Losing a Whole Year," from Third Eye Blind's 1997 self-titled debut album, became a Top 20 Billboard Modern Rock Tracks hit.

Third Eye Blind have never really stopped making music -- in fact, they just announced a new album -- but a big part of the group's appeal remains the nostalgia surrounding "Losing a Whole Year," "Semi-Charmed Life," Graduate" and other hits from Third Eye Blind. If those songs made it onto your teenage mixtapes, you likely dug the band's current tourmates, Jimmy Eat World, as well.

Before winning the third season of The Voice in 2012 and charting a country music career, Pope chased her own rock 'n' roll dreams: She sang in the pop-punk band Hey Monday from 2008 until the group's ongoing hiatus began in 2011. During their run, the band found success with the 2008 single "Homecoming" and the 2010 EP Beneath It All.

Pope maintains some of the pop punch from Hey Monday in her country songs -- the musicians onstage with her just have very different haircuts now. Her past work teased her future success as a singer and song interpreter, however, and informed her vocal performance during Wednesday's brief return to the rock spotlight.
