Cody Jinks cancelled his Saturday night (Oct. 26) concert at the Nacogdoches County Exposition and Civic Center in Nacogdoches, Texas, following what he calls a "threat of violence." Local and federal authorities are investigating the incident.

In a message posted on Twitter on Saturday evening, Jinks shared his "regret and aggravation," explaining, "We are here, set up, and ready, but we have been notified that there has been a threat of violence issued for tonight’s show.”

"In good conscience, my team and I have decided to postpone the show this evening in Nacogdoches," he adds, promising in a subsequent tweet to make the show up at a later date. "The safety for our fans, friends, and staff is first and foremost. I personally had family make long drives and paid for hotels so I understand any aggravation and frustration."

Per NBC affiliate KETK-TV in Tyler, Texas, the threat was received by the Expo Center on Saturday at around 10AM local time; it was made “through an online app,” and made reference to “doing violence during the concert.” NBC DFW Channel 5 reports that Nacogdoches County Sheriff Jason Bridges is working with the FBI, Texas Rangers and the Department of Public Safety to investigate the incident.

Jinks is an independent artist with a loyal following and two new albums out in recent weeks. He released the first, After the Fire, on Oct. 11, and followed up with The Wanting on Oct. 18.
