College Tuition Assistance Available for New York’s Volunteer Firefighters

(Albany, New York) – In 2011, the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York unveiled a historic educational initiative called the FASNY Higher Education Learning Plan.

This statewide community college tuition reimbursement program is geared towards recruiting and retaining volunteer firefighters throughout New York.

FASNY has announced a deadline extension - to February 21st, 2014 - for firefighters to apply for the new 2014 semester.

Under FASNY HELP, an individual who hasn’t already achieved a college degree, or has not taken 80 or more college credits, is eligible for up to 100% tuition reimbursement in exchange for maintaining good grades and fulfilling service requirements in one of New York’s volunteer fire companies.

Scholarships are also available to high school students who are college-bound. Deadline is March 15th, 2014.
