The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with two other agencies to implement the “Handle with Care” Program to support school children who have experienced traumatic events in their lives. Sheriff’s Deputies responding to an incident where a child witnesses or is the victim of a traumatic event will notify the partner agencies who will then contact schools so teachers are aware and can offer help. The Program started nearly 10 years ago in West Virginia and since then was implemented nationwide.
