Firefighters Battle Blaze and Freezing Temps in Whitney Point

Investigators are looking in to what caused a fire in Whitney Point early yesterday.

The fire at 189 Eldridge Road got started around 3:30 in the morning and severely damaged a home. The owner and his dog escaped unharmed, but the house is a total loss as flames shot through the roof.

Firefighters from Whitney Point and seven other fire departments worked through the freezing temperatures. The flames were confined to the ceiling and attic, according to those at the scene.
