Fall weather may be here for much of the United States, but Jordan Whitmore is still enjoying the outdoors. For The Boot's October Guest Room Sessions installment, the Texas singer-songwriter performs a stripped-down version of her song "Something Different" while lounging on the porch.

Whitmore is joined for her Guest Room Sessions performance by her dog Billie and guitarist Brendan Gilman, with whom Whitmore frequently performs acoustic sets. Watching them perform on her home's balcony is a bit like hanging outside with friends on a nice day. Press play above to watch.

A straightforward, slightly sassy song, "Something Different" is a little counter-intuitive, considering that its message is all about feeling listless and being in a perpetual search for something ... well, different. "Maybe I'm just restless, maybe it's too soon," Whitmore sings, her vocals reminiscent of that classic '90s Lorrie Morgan sound. "But how can you really know if you're too afraid to move? / I'm ready for somethin' different."

In September, Whitmore released a new EP called Good Things, on which "Somethin' Different" appears. Fans of Sheryl Crow, Shawn Colvin and powerful voices will find a lot to like in her sound, which she says takes influence from artists including Aimee Mann and Alabama Shakes. Whitmore is also an accomplished songwriter, with multiple songs earning finalist spots at the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and winning the National Unplugged Songwriting Contest.

Good Things is out now via all major streaming platforms. Fans can keep up with Whitmore at JordanWhitmore.com.
