Kacey Musgraves is under fire for her Twitter account liking a sexist tweet that Kid Rock posted about Taylor Swift, but she says she didn't do it.

Musgraves’ account liked the rapper's tweet about Swift that read, “Taylor Swift wants to be a democrat because she wants to be in movies….period. And it looks like she will suck the door knob off Hollyweird to get there. Oldest move in the book. Good luck girl.”

Hours later, Musgraves tweeted that her account had been hacked. “Yoooo - my account was hacked. I’ve been working all day and just got on Twitter,” she wrote. During the hack, the only action taken seemed to be the favoriting of the one tweet, which left some people skeptical. The "like" was later removed, and many Twitter users accused Musgraves of liking the tweet out of professional jealousy for Swift, then lying about it.

Swift has been quiet about politics in public for most of her career, but she helped get out the vote during the 2018 midterm elections, and she has since come out in favor of Democratic policies and candidates, while she has also publicly decried Republican candidates and policies that she feels have targeted the LGBTQ community.

Musgraves recently made headlines when she spoke out about gun control during her Lollapalooza set, which took place the same weekend as recent mass shootings in Texas and Ohio.

Musgraves’ husband, Ruston Kelly, recently covered Swift’s song “All Too Well.” His most recent Twitter likes include Swift’s tweets and articles about her upcoming seventh studio album, Lover.

Celebrities and fans alike have come Swift's defense against Kid Rock’s vulgar post, including his friend and collaborator Sheryl Crow.

"Spread love. Not hate. End of subject," Crow wrote on her Twitter account in response to the rapper's tweet. She and Kid Rock collaborated on the song "Picture" in 2002, sparking rumors that the pair dated, though they both denied the claim.

Kid Rock has often shared his conservative political opinions through the years, including his avid support for President Trump. The singer has visited the White House while Trump has been in office and even played golf with him. After Trump won the presidency he even released a line of apparel to celebrate the win that included a shirt with a graphic of the electoral map, depicting the states Trump won as the United States of America and the states that Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton won as "Dumbf--kistan."

Kid Rock toyed with politics himself by announcing a run for the U.S. Senate in 2017 in his home state of Michigan. He later revealed that the entire run was a joke.
