MLB 4-time All Star and Oneonta Tigers Coach Bill Monbouquette Dies at 78
During his 11 years in the majors "Monbo" was a four time All Star. He threw a no hitter on August 1, 1962. He pitched for the Detroit Tigers, Yankees, Giants and most notably with the Boston Red Sox.
For several years Bill Monbouquette was a fixture at Oneonta's Damaschke Field where he was a pitching coach. He was friendly, accessible and enjoyed being with our local youth.

There is a plaque in the clubhouse at Damaschke Field that says - "Monbo's Pen" - in honor of Bill Monbouquette for his half century in professional baseball as pitcher, coach, mentor and friend by the players and fans of Oneonta, NY Dedicated Sept 7, 2005
