Written by Rizzio with Michael Rinne and Aaron Raitiere, "Sunshine Is Free" is a reminder of the beautiful, happiness-inducing parts of life, from the free to the pricey, the minuscule to the massive. The artist calls the song "a 'less-is-more' anthem about feeling good with the simple things in life: sunshine and music."

"Sunshine is free / Music is too," Rizzio sings in the chorus, over a bouncy melody that's an instant mood-lifter in and of itself. "You can head to the country where the skies are blue / Build a fire on a beach / It don't cost no money / If your pockets are empty, sunshine is free."

"Sunshine Is Free" is the second of 11 songs on -- and the title track of -- Rizzio's new album, due out on Oct. 4. The entire project focuses on those little things that make life worth living, and brought the singer-songwriter back to Nashville, where she lived in the early 2000s. Produced by her "Sunshine Is Free" co-writer Rinne, the album features the songwriting and musicianship of Mindy Smith, Gwen Sebastian, Will Kimbrough, Mark Erelli and more.

Sunshine Is Free is Rizzio's second solo release, following 2016's Washashore Cowgirl. Previously, she was part of the folk-pop trio Tripping Lily for a decade. The East Texas native now lives in Cape Cod, Mass.; visit MonicaRizzio.com for more.
