Morgan Wallen can't stop pining for an ex in his new single, "Chasin' You." The song is the latest to be released by the up-and-comer from his debt album, 2018's If I Know Me.

Written by Wallen with Craig Wiseman and Jamie Moore, "Chasin' You" finds Wallen haunted by a former flame — or, rather, chasing after her "like a shot of whiskey."

"Chasin' you like those goodbye taillights / Headin' west to anywhere out of this nowhere town," Wallen sings. "Chasin' that freedom, chasin' that feeling that got gone too soon / Chasin' that you and me I only see in my rearview / Hell, I'm layin' here tonight holdin' someone new / Still chasin' you, still chasin' you."

Both of Wallen's previous two singles from If I Know Me, "Up Down" and "Whiskey Glasses," hit No. 1 on the country charts. However, the former ToC RISERS act is finding that fans aren't just familiar with his radio hits.

"People aren’t just listening to my single, but they are listening to the whole album — and that’s really encouraging to me because you just never know what’s going to happen when you put something out," he tells Taste of Country. "You don’t even know if people will like one song, so if the full project is something they like and love, it’s very humbling, and it makes you work even harder."

Did You Know?: Wallen is #TeamAdam! The singer competed on Season 6 of The Voice in 2014, landing first on Usher's team, and then on Adam Levine's team, before being eliminated during the Playoff Round.

Morgan Wallen's "Chasin' You" Lyrics:

We used to chase that Chattanooga freight / Couple of kids in a Chevrolet / Catch a little air when we cross the tracks / Sippin' on something from a paper sack / You hang your shirt on that maple limb / Slipping through the moon to the riverbend / Wasn't very long I was jumpin' in, jumpin' in / I guess I'm still doin' now what I was doin' then

Chorus:

Chasin' you like a shot of whiskey / Burnin' going down, burnin' going down / Chasin' you like those goodbye taillights / Headin' west to anywhere out of this nowhere town / Chasin' that freedom, chasin' that feeling that got gone too soon / Chasin' that you and me I only see in my rearview / Hell, I'm layin' here tonight holding someone new / Still chasin' you, still chasin' you

You always used to talk about LA / I heard you got as far as Santa Fe / Oh wait, you know I tried to track you down / I only got as far as Guitar Town / Singin' about a girl I used to know, used to know / You should know that I haven't given up / I'm just on your radio

Repeat Chorus (x2)

Still chasin' you, still chasin' you
