Anime movies.

First off, don't ever just refuse to watch something because you're against it or don't like it. Never judge a book with you're immediate vision. It could be the best book ever....now we may begin.

So about a year ago I put a DVD on my family's Netflix order list because this certain movie happened to look really good. I forgot about it completely until we [finally] received it in the mail last friday...
I decided to watch it the following Saturday night.

That movie was the award winning Summer Wars. Originally released in Japan on August 1st, 2009 and quickly became widely popular in Japan. Some of the awards it won include the likes of the 2010 Japan Academy Prize for Animation of the Year and the Anaheim International Film Festival's Audience Award for Best Animated Feature.

The plot revolves around Kenji Koiso, a high school student and a huge math wiz.  He is invited by his female friend, Natsuki Shinohara to celebrate the 90th birthday of her great-grandmother, Sakae Jinnouchi and Sakae's estate. When Kenji is sent a mathematical code that is received VIA text from OZ, (OZ is an online world that basically is like Facebook to the extreme. You can chat, make communities, buy cars....its basically like if the internet and reality had a baby and everything that happened on the result affected you're real life....that's basically what OZ is) that he helps to moderate he decides he should crack the code.

This activates an artificial intelligence that goes by the name of "Love Machine" who hacks into Kenji's OZ account and takes control of  it and possesses his avatar. From here on out everything falls apart, the whole world becomes chaotic. Kenji and Natsuki, along with Natsuki's family must all unite in an attempt to stop the world from being destroyed....the real world. Because Love Machine is much more powerful than anyone ever had expected.

This movie was flat-out amazing; it was the perfect mix of every genre, and the art was beautiful. I loved it.

The plot was very engulfing and kept my eyes glued to the screen. It fits into the fantasy/sci-fi genre, if anyone was wondering.  It's got some odd cute touch to it too...and all of the characters' personalities are very well-developed and seem majorly believable.

This movie can, however, be rather hard to find; I got it off Netflix though. Sadly I have to send it back but that, my friends, is why E-bay exists. To buy things. Like awesome DVDS.

If I had to rate this movie...I'd probably give it a 9/10 overall.  Flat out, it's a great movie. It's a movie  I'd be caught watching again multiple times.
