New York’s adult smoking rate is at the lowest ever according to new figures released by Governor Cuomo’s office. The statewide adult smoking rate is 14.2 percent as of 2016, a 22 percent decline from 2011 and below the national average of 15.5 percent. Smoking rates among adults age 18 to 24 have dropped to 11.7 percent. The high-school smoking rate also hit an all-time low of 4.3 percent in 2016.
