Friday night was a big night in downtown Sidney.  A huge crowd was on hand to witness the annual Sidney Chamber of Commerce Holly Jolly Parade and Christmas festivities.  More than a dozen floats joined the parade as numerous areas groups joined in. Several Sidney dance groups put on lively performances for the excited crowd.  Over 100 children lined up to visit with Santa Claus in his "workshop."  A tree, located in the heart of the village's downtown, lit up with 5,000 lights at the end of a countdown by Sidney mayor Andy Matviak.  Christmas carols were sung, raffles and gift baskets were won, and a merry old time was had by all.

As a hometown boy, it was wonderful to see such a giant crowd in downtown again with so many children laughing and cheering the arrival of Santa to Sidney.  Good job, Chamber!!
