State Police at Binghamton investigated an industrial accident Monday morning in which a Pa. man was fatally electrocuted while conducting elevated train bridge measurements in the Town of Colesville.

The investigation revealed that 39-year-old Thomas F. Tarchak of Simpson, Pa., was taking bridge measurements under an elevated train track in a high lift when the lift came in contact with NYSEG power lines, causing Tarchak to be fatally electrocuted.

State Police were assisted in the investigation by the Harpursville Fire Department, Superior and Colesville ambulances, NYSEG and Canadian Pacific Railroad police. The investigation is continuing.
