See Inside Paul Cauthen’s Big Velvet Revue at AmericanaFest 2019 [PHOTOS]

Named one of The Boot's 2019 can't-miss events of AmericanaFest, Paul Cauthen's annual Big Velvet Revue featured a stacked lineup of some of the format's most exciting performers. Aubrie Sellers, Kendall Marvel and Chris Shiflett were just a few of the artists who took the stage during the showcase.

Of course, Cauthen himself also took the stage throughout the evening. To cap it all off, country favorite Randy Houser headlined the festivities, and surprise performer Cody Jinks wowed the crowd, too.

That's not to say that everything went off without a hitch during the showcase. In fact, close to the end of the night, Quaker City Night Hawks drummer Aaron Haynes got a bit too rowdy, antagonizing a sound operator, throwing parts of his drum kit across the stage and threatening venue employees with physical violence. Haynes subsequently apologized for his actions, saying that he planned to "[take] this event as a learning experience, and to seek professional counseling and treatment for my mental and physical health."

After the show, Cauthen admitted to The Boot that as the event's emcee, the toughest part about his job was trying to avoid sounding like a broken record as he hyped up each act about to take the stage. "Like, okay, same conversation. 'I love this person who we're about to call up.' What else do I say?" he recalled with a laugh. "This [performer] is my favorite. This [performer] is my favorite. This is the real deal, and this is the real deal. And they are. It was awesome."
