RIP To Rochester Native and Former WWE Superstar

On Saturday, All Elite Wrestling announced the passing of Rochester native and professional wrestler Jon Huber. In a statement from AEW the company said "Jon Huber was exceptionally respected and beloved in every way."

Most recently Huber had been wrestling for AEW under the persona of "The Exalted One, Mr. Brodie Lee of The Dark Order". I first became aware of Huber when he was known as Luke Harper a member of WWE's The Wyatt Family. WWE expressed condolences saying " WWE extends its condolences to Huber’s family, friends and fans."

Huber's wife, Amanda confirmed, via Instagram, that "He passed surrounded by love ones after a hard fought battle with a non Covid related lung issue." Mrs. Huber went on to say "he was my best friend, my husband, and the greatest father you would ever meet. No words can express the love I feel or how broken I am right now."

Wrestling since 2003, Huber was professionally trained in his hometown of Rochester. He was also trained in Schenectady by WWE competitor Tony Mamaluke. In July of 2013 Huber made his WWE debut as a member of The Wyatt Family as they assaulted Superstar Kane. Huber's final appearance in the ring took place on October 7 on an episode of the AEW show Dynamite.

His New York State accomplishments while part of Rochester Pro Wrestling, NWA Upstate and NWA New York are many as 6 time champion in various categories. In 2017 Huber had a part in the movie Mohawk playing a character named Lachland Allsopp.

Professional wrestlers provide so much entertainment for millions of people around the world. My son and I have attended everything from flashy WWE events with lights and TV cameras to Independent shows in gymnasiums and minor league baseball parks. Each event created memories that gave us another reason to bond. The life of a professional wrestler however is not an easy one. The travel, injuries and time away from family are just a few of the things that can wear a wrestler down.
