Sheryl Crow may not have made it to the altar yet, but the singer hasn't given up on the idea. She knows marriage isn't the key to happiness for her, but rather, it's her two boys.

Crow has had several relationships with highly successful men, but has yet to walk down the aisle. "Hey, I would love to get married -- I'm still old-fashioned. But I don't think marriage is the be-all-and-end-all," she tells Good Housekeeping. "It's better to have three broken engagements than three divorces."

Crow has had relationships with both Eric Clapton and Owen Wilson. She was also engaged to Lance Armstrong -- all extremely successful men. None ended up in marriage, however, and she thinks she's figured out why.

"I have always gone out with guys who were highly successful, which would seem like it would put me at an equal level," Crow explains. "But what ends up happening is that one of you becomes smaller -- and it was always me. I do think that sometimes in order for one person's light to shine, everyone else has to dim theirs."

These days, Crow is shining brightly as the mother of adopted sons Wyatt, 7, and Levi, 4.

"They understand that they came out of different tummies," she tells the magazine. "But they also believe, as do I, that God put us together. They know how blessed I am to get to be their mommy. So when they're mad that I won't let them play video games, I say, 'God put me in charge. I'm raising you all the best that I can, and some decisions are not fun.'"

Though she's been in the business for a long time, Crow recognizes that things have changed -- and she won't let sex sell her music.

"There's so much sex that's projected, and that's a bummer. These singers talk about how empowering it is, but a good musician who can command the stage doesn't have to rely on sex to sell her music."

Crow is currently on tour with Rascal Flatts.
