Organizers have announced that the Sidney, NY "SFCU Hometown Day Parade," always one of the village's big community events, has been cancelled.

An email sent out by the organizer, Sidney Federal Credit Union, cites the COVID-19 pandemic as the reason.  The email stated, "Each year the planning for this event is very concentrated during the months of April and May.   Due to the coronavirus outbreak and its progression, practicing social distancing measures is justifiably paramount  at this time, and we need to keep that mindset.  The safety and well-being of staff, members of our community and spectators is a top priority for this event.  For these reasons it is in the best interest of all parties involved to cancel the 2020 Annual SFCU Hometown Day Parade."
