Unadilla Carnival of Sales Cancels; First Time in 43 Years
The Unadilla Carnival of Sales, one of the village's biggest community-wide events, has had to cancel this year because of the COVID-19 threat. In a message from Mayor Dave Welch, he states that out of an abundance of caution the Carnival of Sales will not be held this year. This is the event's first cancellation in more than four decades.
Mayor Welch said that the village's Memorial Day parade has also been cancelled, but that services will be held at the cemeteries while observing current health guidelines.
The loss of Carnival of Sales is another big hit in the little communities in our area. The Bainbridge General Clinton Canoe Regatta was canceled. the Sidney Hometown Flag Day parade was also canceled. This is a scenario playing out across our region.
