A school press release reports that he Walton Central School District Board of Education is moving forward with the process to identify and hire a permanent superintendent despite challenges posed by travel restrictions and social distancing resulting from Covid-19 concerns.

On December 3, the Board of Education entered into an agreement with DCMO BOCES District Superintendent Perry Dewey to conduct a superintendent search. This search resulted in a candidate pool of 15 applicants.

The valuable information received from two district-wide surveys was utilized in the Board’s process to successfully review, screen, and ultimately choose four very qualified applicants. As the Board of Education proceeds with the final interviews, they will abide by the Governor’s Executive Orders and adhere to social distancing.

While there are unique challenges to hiring in the current environment, the Board maintains confidence that the Walton Central School District’s next leader will be identified by July 1, 2020.
