The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office investigated a serious two vehicle accident Friday afternoon on State Route 166 at the intersection of County Route 33 in the Town of Cherry Valley.

Investigation revealed that both vehicles were southbound on SR-166 around 3:00 pm. Jason D. Wilber, 38, of Warnerville was operating a 2013 Kawasaki motorcycle and was slowing down to turn right when Todd J. Gould, 28, of Morris, who was operating 2009 GMC delivery van, rear-ended Wilber’s motorcycle. Wilber was ejected from his motorcycle.

The Cherry Valley Fire Department and Cooperstown Emergency Squad were dispatched to the scene and arrived within minutes to provide medical care. A Life Net helicopter was also dispatched and they transported Wilber to the Albany Medical Center. Gould was uninjured during the collision.

The investigation was conducted by the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the NY State Department of Motor Vehicles. SR-166 was closed for about two hours while investigators investigated the collision.

Gould was issued tickets for unsafe tires and following too closely and will return to the Town of Cherry Valley court.
