Watch For Extra Holiday Trooper Patrols
New York State troopers are increasing patrols to crack down on drunk and drugged driving and other traffic infractions this week through Thursday due to the Fourth of July holiday. According to New York State Police, there will be mobile checkpoints where troopers will be looking for drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Police will also be monitoring roads and watching for distracted drivers and those failing to move over or slow down for emergency vehicles. Last year, the State Police issued nearly 10,500 vehicle and traffic tickets during the Fourth of July holiday.
